The underlying Chong Hwa Culture
This entry is written out of a deep feeling after spending six months in Taylor.
What's about underlying Chong Hwa Culture? Actually for the past six months, "surviving" in Taylor is not a cinch anyway. I wonder how the Helpers are doing out there, but non-ChongHwa-Taylorians have their own way of thinking.
For the beginning stage, I regard it as normal since it's just a beginning. New environment afterall. But sooner or later, as time goes on, I do realize that those non-Chong-Hwa they are really different. They maybe looks mature physically but innerly they are not. They can dressed up as pretty or handsome as any other stars but what comes out from their mind are things quite childish, or shallow.
As for ChongHwa'ians, we are practical. Perhaps it's a principle which the school has been sticking to all these while, be practical...dun do useless things. So we are trained not to waste our time, not to play so much, but the time you get into this Taylor-like college, you are facing a totally different world. A brand new world. They are materialistic, they are rich ( absolutely for some of them), selfish, realistic, playful, slacker, you name it.. .(except minority minority group, or those medicine class) What are some gals do? They compete on the limited edition of Roxy, mind my words, not limited edition from M'sia, but Aus, UK..etc. Boys?....How good they can play in foosball, pool...Billabong, Nike latest model. If you look back, Chong Hwa-ians are still sticking to a plain and "tasteless" life. They are in casual wear most of the time...See the difference?
So, somemore most of the guys I guess, no manners, rude, impolite, not considerate...worse still, discriminatory. I am not telling a case happened in my class, but this is a shared conversation between some Chong Hwa-ians in Taylor. Guess what?
